WHAT IS SOUL OR WHAT IS SPIRIT ?
Introduction
Spirit is described in the second chapter of The Holy Gita.Universe, is composed of the union of soul and nature. soul is omnipresent, constant, unborn, latent and without disorder, but nature have variables and disorders in it . whatever the changes we see in the world are only the changes happening in the nature not in the spirit. Yes, this change is based on the spirit . there are five elements of nature:earth, water, fire, air, ether.
These five elements are present in everything in the world. changes in the nature occurs due to these five elements and three gunas i.e. Sattva , Raja , Tama. Gita said that the weapons can not cut the soul, then the disconnecting is in the earth element, the element of fire is burning, melting and drying of the water element and air element . these features are four elements and the fifth element is AKASHA (ether) i.e. the empty space. the four elements work on the basis of ether element . a spirit is beyond the five elements. so cuts, burns , rot and drying these all are possible only in the body and other objects made up of five elements, not in spirit. Science is the study of five elements, but the spirituality is the process of experience of spiritual self element, so where science end , spirituality begins from there.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE SOUL LEAVES THE BODY ?
Garuda purana says that when the soul leaves the body , 2 prophets(doot) of god of death (yama) comes. how will they take us it depends on what kind of karmas we did in life. if the person is gentle, pious soul , it does not get any pain but immoral or sinful souls of people has to suffer the pain. They, the yamdootas takes the pious soul with respect and scoundrel and immoral souls are mistreated and punished. Garuda Purana also mentioned that the yamdoota's only takes the soul for 24 hours.
These 24 hours are taken in events of his entire life. he has shown that he has done how many sins and virtuous. then the soul is left in the same house where his body was discarded. it remains there until the 13-day (uttarkaryas) (tehrvi) response actions. 13 days later he travels to Yamaloka.
MOVEMENTS (GATI) OF THE SOUL
According to the Vedas, the Upnishads, the garuda purana . after death there are 8 types of conditions of soul. which is also called (GATI) movement or motion . it is basically divided into two parts, the AGATI and GATI. in AGATI(akinesis) the soul cannot get enlightenment ( moksha) . again it has to go and take birth on a loka.
I've described the loka's in my previous posts. so for better understanding read them also.
There are four type of AGATI (akinesis) -
1. Kshinodrk
2. Bhumodrk
3. Trutiya agati
4. chaturth agati
in kshinodrk agati the organism(jeevatma) again comes in face of a pious-soul in the death world (mrityuloka- in which we are living) and lives the life like a saint.. In bhumodrk the soul again takes birth and lives a luxurious life . in trutiya agati he will spend life or born as a animal. and in chaturth agati the soul again takes birth but as insect, pests. There are 4 lokas given Under the gati (motion) and a soul goes to them and allotted a place in four lokas according to their deed,karmas.. the four lokas under gati is listed below-
1.Brahmaloka
2.Devaloka(heaven)
3.Pitriloka
4.Narakloka
SPIRIT PATH
In mythology i.e. The Puranas, the three routes are considered for the journey of soul. when a man dies and soul leaves the body and after the 13th day of death the journey begins. according to his deeds one route/way to travel is allotted to the soul.
These three routes are-
1.archi marg (archi route)
2. dhoom marg (sputter route)
3. uttpatti-vinash marg (creation-destruction route)
Archi route ( marg) is for traveling to brahmloka and devaloka(heaven). dhoommarg is to visit pitriloka, and creation and destruction route (utpatti-vinash marg) is to travell to hell.
KINDS OF HELL
There are 36 main hell. also the avichi , kumbhipaak , maharourv are three main (mukhyatam) .
these three narakas are located in central side and udhrav of the hell.
these 36 narkas have further 4-4 subhells (up-narak)
EXISTENCE OF THE SOUL
I am not only the body, i am the soul which is the part of divine/parmatma. god is not hindu, not muslim, not sikh and not christian neither jewish(yahudi). god is the super-energy which is the reason for all the creation , root of conscious, and invisible-visible.. i am a part ,a fraction of that divine(THE GOD). For better understanding we can take an example - like , due to heavy cloudy weather we cannot se the beauty of mountains, similarly due to this big cloud of ignorance we cannot see the reality behind it.
spirit is a life-force which is the force of our body.it is strength, not a person.without this life force we are cannot live or we can say we are dead and dust again. when the body is released from the soul or life force, the body dies and returns to where it came from- the earth. similarly, the life-force i.e. the soul returns to where he had come to existence i.e. To Parmatma(GOD).
WHO BECOMES THE 'BHOOT', EVIL SPIRIT
Which don't have a present, only have past is called ghost or bhoot. ghost soul becomes stuck in the past. life is not in the past and also not in the future, it is always in the present. who resides in present he steps towards The Liberation.
SPIRITS,SOULS ARE OF THREE CONSIDERED FORMS
1. Jeevatma , 2. Pretatma , 3. sukshmatma .
which dwells in the physical body is called Jeevatma.when the individual soul(Jeevatma) resides or enter in the boy of desires and fantasy's then it is called a ghot or pretatma. and when the soul enters the subtle body then it is caleed a sukshmatma.
bhoot, pret, spirits has tremendous speed and power. They are of diffrent species and the are known as bhhot , pret, rakashas, pishach, yam, shakini, dayan, dakini, chudail, gandharv etc.
TYPES OF EVIL SPIRITS
In Hinduism division of dead people is done according to their action(Karma) and speed (Gati)-Bhoot(ghost), pret(ghost, phantom), pishach( Vampire),kushmanda, brahmrakshas, vetal(sprite), kshetrapal(yeoman). All these also have their sub-parts . According to Ayurveda there are 18 types of Pret. Ghost is the initial term or even an ordinary persom dies, He becomes ghost first .
similarly, when a women dies, she is known by different names. when a procreative lady or a young women dies becomes Chudail (witch) and when a virgin girl dies she is known as devi, a women who had done wrong deeds and sins becomes dayan or dakini. These all are created because of their sins, lechery or the absence of shradh (memorial) or premature death (Akaal mrityu).
There are 84,00,000 species(Yoni) , The spirits that live in the Pashuyoni(animals), pakshiyoni(birds), manushyayoni(human) Moves or goes into invisible Bhoot-pret yoni. at each birth the spirit (atma) attains a living being form , which is called Yoni .and there 84,00,000 yoni's like this, which includes all insects-moths, animals, birds, trees and humans etc.
Spirits which goes in pretyoni becomes invisible and powerful. but all deads or spirits does not goes to this yoni, all dead people are invisible but they all are not powerful.it depends on the karma and gati of the spirit. many spirits goes to these pretyoni's and again take birth as a human.
In pitra paksha we Hindus do libation of our Pitras.(ancestor soul) . this proves the existence of ancestors in the form of bhoot-pret. Garuda Purana gives a detailed description about the ghosts. shrimad bhagwat purana describes the scenario of dhundkari becoming a Pret.
THE UNQUENCHABLE(unsatisfied) SPIRITS BECOMES GHOST
A person who is having wishes and feelings like hunger, thirst, sexual desires, anger, malice, greed, lust etc at the time of death , surely becomes a ghost . And the person who died because of an accident, murder, suicide etc, also becomes a ghost and wanders . For satisfy the soul of these kinds shradh and tarpan (memorial and libation) is done. People who do not do so for their family and pitras are often disturbed by these spirits.
AIR NAMED YAMA
According to the vedas in mritukal i.e. at the time of death the souls remains stable in a kind of air called Yama for some time and again that souls enters a womb and takes birth . when a spirit or soul enters a womb it is in a deep sleep state (sushupti avastha) . It remains in this state even before the birth , Only The more memory-full and meditative spirits can know that they are dead and only these can become ghost or bhoot.
Just like the way a spirit or a soul goes from (sushupti) deep sleep state to (swapn) dream state and from dream state to (Jagrati) Awakened state , similarly At the time of death (in mrityukal) it goes from awakened(jagrat awastha) to dream and from dream to deep sleep (sushupti) anf from sushupti to (Gahan sushupti) a very deep sleep state . and like this the cycle of life and death continues.
FEELING OF GHOST SPIRITS
They have a strong desire to eat , they seems even more thirsty , but cannot get satisfied. They are very sad and irritated , They wanders sometimes in the house and sometimes in the forest , they are always and every time in search of liberation provider (mukti pradata).
CONDITION OF GHOST SPIRITS
Much noise, Light and mantra chants are not liked by the ghosts . that's why they remain in distance with these. and they like krishna paksha more and on teras and chaudas and amavasya the are in strong position and active . ghosts are often visible in those places and locations which was related to them in their lifetime or places which are secluded. A long time vacant house or bunglow is also the abode of ghosts.
STRENGTH AND POWER OF GHOST SPIRITS
Ghosts are invisible.their body is made up of air . i.e. they are body less. it is known as (sukshma sharir) subtle body. according to Ayurveda, it is composed of 17 elements . some spirits/ghosts understands the power and strength of their sublte body and they also knows how to use it, and some spirits knows nothing.
some ghosts spirits have the power of touch (sparsh) and some ghosts do not have . which spirit is having the power to touch , they could throw great trees out from the soil.. if these kinds of spirits becomes bad then they are very dangerous . spirits can also give feel of their presence to any person around them .
These kind of ghost spirits are having so much mental power that they can turn and can change anybody's mind and brain for any good or bad work. and they also knows that how to use anyone's physical body.
Due to lack of solidity ghost spirit had no effect on them of sward or bullet or sticks etc. Ghosts have the ability to experience the joys and sorrows , because in outer sense ether and air and in inner sense mind, conscious, intellect is anesthesia (Sangyashunya) so they can only experience the joys and sorrows.
GOOD AND EVIL SPIRITS
Good and bad sense of sensuality to the deceased is considered good and bad. Where good souls of deceased goes is called pitriloka and where the evil souls of deceased goes that is known as pretloka .
Good and bad spirits of nature seeks a person who can meet or fulfill their desires. evil spirits seeks those persons who are indulge in criminal activities , impious, sinful, and who life for the satisfaction of senses (Indriyan). then the spirits fulfill their desires according to the persons nature, karma, properties / characteristics.
According to the mentality, instincts, nature, sins and holiness of a person a soul enters in the body accordingly . most of the people would not have known it. good spirits satisfies themselves by doing good deed . it results in the good deeds of the person in who's body the spirit is residing. it benefits him also and bad or evil spirits satisfies themselves by doing bad deeds and they also inspire the person to do bad deeds/karmas. That's why according to the Hinduism among good deeds and righteousness, it is necessary for a person to have devotion towards God. then only one can be safe from both kind of spirits.
WHO BECOMES A GHOST HUNT
According to the laws and rules of the religion , people who do not believe in holiness(pavitrata), who insults the god , guru(Teacher), devas and who always indulged in sinful activities . Most of the time these kind of people can come easily into the clutches of ghosts.
Some of these people would not now that Any ghost is ruling on them, people whose mental strength is very week Ghosts are able to rule directly on them. Those who work at night and who are sinful ,evil can become a ghost hunt easily . according to hindu dharm any kind of religious auspicious work is not done in night. and those who do these kind of works at night are surly of bhoota(ghosta), vampires(pishach), rakshasha(demon) and pretyoni.
